The Chinese company Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery (STHIM), has announced that it will try and close the deal to own the popular military and once popular road going GM brand, Hummer by the end of October this year.
Yang Yi, STHIM General Manager, said that the company has no intention of moving any of the equipment or technology to China. With talks of GM wanting US$500 million, it is suggested that STHIM paid as little as US$100 million.
“We want to make a green Hummer. Tengzhong and Hummer are very aware of the government’s fuel-efficiency requirements,” he said. “Hummer has already achieved substantial progress in this area.” Mr Yang said.
